Are Protein Shakes a Good Idea For Women?

Do Protein Shakes create a Lean Physique or Bulging Muscles?
Women shy away from protein shakes for the same reason they shy away from heavy lifting. Let's all say it together: "I don't want to look like a bulky bodybuilder!" It's time to clear up that misconception. Ladies, you will not develop bulging, unsightly muscles from consuming protein shakes or even from lifting heavy weights.
Achieving that type of physique, even for men, requires an insanely high calorie intake and an even higher level of testosterone -- whether natural or not-so-natural. With that said, here are a few things protein shakes, along with a balanced diet and well-rounded exercise program will do for a woman's physique.
Protein is the building block of muscle; therefore, supplementing with it will help you put on lean muscle mass. Not the kind that will bulge through your sleeves, but the type that will make your body appear tighter and more toned. When you add lean muscle mass to your frame, your body requires additional calories to maintain that muscle.
This means you can eat the same amount you do now and lose fat, because some of those calories that used to be stored as fat are now devoted to keeping up your new muscle mass. This simultaneous addition of muscle and loss of fat amounts to a positive change in your body composition, a measurement which is much better than body weight as an indicator of fitness.
Because muscle is denser than fat, when you gain three kilos of the former and lose three kilos of the latter, you will appear slimmer and your clothes will fit more loosely, even though the number on the scale is unchanged.
