Boost your memory power with these simple suggestions
The old adage "use it or lose it" is true when it comes to memory. The brain is an organ that needs to be exercised like any other to maintain mental agility. The following are ten tips to help improve your memory.
Write Things Down - Writing important things down and seeing them in print may help some people remember more easily than just thinking about it in their head.
Cut Out Fast Food - Eating fast food and junk food on a regular basis will leave you feeling sluggish and tired and unable to concentrate well.
Visualize Concepts - Most of us are visual learners. Creating a picture in our mind of something may help us recall the information later.
Stay Physically Active - Moderate exercise for 30 minutes will increase blood flow to the brain and improve the cognitive process.
Stay in One Place - Walking out of a room into a new environment may cause us to forget things we're trying to remember.
Exercise Your Brain - Working on crossword puzzles, Sudokus, or even working out math problems will strengthen areas of the brain you might not use on a regular basis.
Get Organized - Keeping your home and office neat and clutter free will make it easier to remember where everything is located. Making a list of things that need done will also help.
Laugh - Laughter involves several areas of the brain. Listening to punch lines helps our brains stay creative.
Learn Something New - Whether it's a game, a craft, or a new recipe, learning new things expands our ways of thinking.
Recite the Alphabet - When trying to remember a name or word, reciting the alphabet can jog your memory.
