Why should I make my own yogurt? Store bought yogurts can be loaded with preservatives, artificial flavours and excessive amounts of sweeteners. Easiyo is not only the freshest yogurt you can get, with more beneficial live cultures in every spoonful (probiotic cultures that you need for your digestive and immune health), it contains no artificial ingredients and more calcium than store bought yogurt. Read our blog article Great Reasons to Make Your Own Yoghurt.

Why is Easiyo yogurt so good for you? The fresher the yogurt the higher the population of live lactic cultures. Lactic bacteria (cultures) occur naturally in the intestines to aid digestion and fight bad bacteria. By eating fresh Easiyo yogurt daily you can help replenish and maintain the natural balance of these important lactic cultures in your body, thus helping to reduce the disease and gas producing bacteria within the intestine.

Can I recycle the yogurt sachets? While we’re really proud of our reusable jars and pouches, unfortunately, our sachets are not recyclable or compostable. That's because our sachets need to have an oxygen/water barrier to keep the cultures viable. At the moment, there’s simply no suitable recyclable packaging solution that meets this need. We continually review our options and hope to solve this issue in the future. It’s important to you, and it’s important to us too.

What cultures are in EasiYo yogurt? All EasiYo yogurts contain Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Some products also contain the Bifidobacteria strain. It’s the combination of cultures that gives our yogurt its wonderful taste and texture.

Do EasiYo yogurt mixes contain gluten? No, none of our yogurts contain any gluten or wheat.

Do EasiYo yogurt mixes contain soy? Yes, soy lecithin is present in small amounts in the milk powder we use, because it helps the milk powder dissolve in water more easily.

I’m vegetarian. Is EasiYo yogurt suitable for me? It sure is! All our products are vegetarian friendly. We have also launched a Plant Based range which is Vegan friendly.

Can I use a yogurt sachet past its best before date? Hmmm, no. We don’t recommend eating anything after its best before date.

I’ve made my yogurt, yum! How will it keep? Most of our yogurts can be kept for up to two weeks in your fridge, but if the flavour you’ve made has fruit or coconut bits we recommend keeping it for just one week. Our Plant Based range keeps for just one week as well. Always check the storage instructions on the sachet.

Is EasiYo yogurt Halal certified? Our yogurts are all Halal suitable. That means that all ingredients used are Halal compliant. We also undertake an annual certification of our latest range.

Can my baby eat your yogurt? As a general rule, babies can start to eat yogurt from the age of 6-8 months. If yogurt is suitable for your baby, we recommend choosing our full fat, plain, unsweetened yogurts (Greek Style or natural) and sweetening them with your baby’s favourite pureed fruit. We also recommend that you talk to your medical professional about the appropriate age for your baby to start eating yogurt and other solids.

Can I eat EasiYo yogurt when I’m pregnant? Absolutely. EasiYo yogurt is just like any other yogurt and fine for pregnant women to eat when prepared and stored as directed.

Is EasiYo yogurt suitable for people who are lactose intolerant or allergic to cow’s milk? Unfortunately if you’re allergic to cow’s milk then EasiYo Yogurts are not suitable for you. In terms of lactose intolerance, each person is different in their degree of sensitivity. Our yogurts do contain lactose naturally from the milk and this is used in the fermentation process, however the lactose levels in our made up yogurt varies. Depending on your tolerance, you may be able to enjoy EasiYo homemade yogurt—but please, always ask a health professional for their advice first if you have intolerances or allergies.

What is in the EasiYo yogurt sachets? The base for our EasiYo yogurts is milk powder and yogurt cultures. Depending on the style or flavour we also add sugar, natural colours and natural flavourings. You’ll need to check the sachet itself for a full list of ingredients. Be assured though that none of our yogurts dairy yogurts contain any artificial colours, flavours or additives.

Do EasiYo yogurt mixes contain nuts? Our mixes don’t contain any ingredients made from nuts, and to the best of our knowledge there are no traces of nuts in our products. However, we rely on information from our suppliers and don’t do any tests on our products ourselves for the presence of nuts. If you have any concerns, please check with a medical professional.

Can I add my own ingredients when I’m making the yogurt, before it sets? There are so many ways to get creative with EasiYo, however don't add anything before the yogurt is set. That’s because additions may disrupt the activation of the yogurt cultures. After your yogurt is set you’re free to get inventive with serving ideas.

How long do the cultures live for in the sachet? EasiYo sachets (which includes the cultures) have a shelf life of 18 months when stored unopened, in temperatures below 25°C. Please check the best before date printed on the back of your EasiYo sachet.

A billion is a big number. How do you get so many live cultures in your yogurt? Actually, the live cultures are because of you! Because EasiYo is made fresh in your kitchen, you get billions of live cultures in every serve right from day one. Better yet, because our yogurt has so many live cultures it’s naturally thick, which is why we don't need to add any stabilisers or thickeners to our yogurts. Now that’s goodness all round.

Once I’ve made my jar of fresh yogurt, how long do the cultures live for? The number of live cultures is at its highest on the first day – one serve of freshly-made EasiYo yogurt contains over one billion live cultures. But the good news doesn’t stop there. We’ve tested our yogurt and even at the end of two weeks in your fridge, there are still billions of live cultures in every serve.

How do the cultures stay viable in the sachets? The cultures are freeze dried. This simply means that all the moisture is extracted so that the cultures can 'hibernate' until they’re reactivated with the addition of water and heat in your EasiYo Yogurt Maker.

How do I make EasiYo Yogurt? It's easy to make EasiYo following our three simple steps. 1. Half fill your yogurt jar with room temperature drinking water (15-20°C). Add the contents of the yogurt sachet, pop on the lid and give it a good shake. Add more water to the jar until it’s about 5mm from the top… pop on the lid and shake again. 2. Push the plastic insert into your yogurt maker as far as it can go. Next, pour boiling water up to the top of the plastic insert. Place your jar into the yogurt maker so it sits on top of the plastic insert, then put the lid on your yogurt maker. 3. You’re all set, now simply wait for the magic to happen! Leave your yogurt maker on your kitchen bench and the yogurt will set after 8 - 12 hours (a little longer for protein yogurt). Most people simply leave it overnight and wake up to fresh homemade yogurt in the morning. You’re nearly there… before you dig in, chill it in the fridge for a few hours to complete the set.

How does the EasiYo Yogurt Maker actually make the yogurt? It may seem like magic, but it’s really quite simple! In order to grow, our yogurt cultures need warmth, moisture and food (for example lactose which is a natural milk sugar). When yogurt is made according to EasiYo sachet instructions, our yogurt maker provides the perfect conditions to activate our yogurt cultures creating your own homemade yummy thick yogurt in just 8-16 hours (depending on the type of EasiYo yogurt you are making).

Can I use bought yogurt as a starter? For delicious, perfect yogurt every time, our EasiYo yogurt sachets contain all the ingredients you need – simply add water. There’s no need to use a bought yogurt as a starter.

Can I make EasiYo without the EasiYo Yogurt Maker? Our sachets are specially designed to be used with the EasiYo Yogurt Maker. While there are other ways of making yogurt from scratch, our system makes it easy, fun and fool proof when you follow our instructions!

Can I use water from the fridge with the yogurt mix? The temperature of the water you mix the sachet with needs to be 15-20°C. If you live in a warm climate, you may want to chill your tap water in the fridge for a little while to bring it to the correct temperature.

What if I forget to take the yogurt out of the yogurt maker in 8-12 hours? Don’t stress! Your yogurt will keep in the yogurt maker for up to 24 hours without being adversely affected. You may find its tangier in taste due to the longer fermentation time.

Why does watery stuff sometimes come to the top of the yogurt? This extra liquid is simply whey being 'expressed' from the yogurt and is part of a natural process. Commercial chilled yogurts may contain thickeners and stabilisers to absorb the expressed whey, but we prefer to keep our yogurt free from additives. Simply stir any whey back into the yogurt as it’s highly nutritious, or you can pour the whey off if you prefer thicker yogurt. You can even add the whey to your smoothie for an extra protein boost.

Sometimes the time it takes for my yogurt to set varies. Why is this? Setting time is related to temperature and can vary depending on the temperature of the water you mixed with your yogurt sachet (15-20°C is ideal) and even the temperature in your kitchen. This variation is entirely normal for a live product that is free from thickening agent.

Can I use milk to make my yogurt? The EasiYo system is designed to eliminate the hassles of incubating and stabilising milk. Any milk you need is provided in powdered form in the EasiYo sachet – simply add water for delicious yogurt every time.

Why does my yogurt seem a bit runny after 8 hours? After 8-12 hours your yogurt should be put straight into the fridge as the yogurt is still very soft and delicate. We know this is hard, because it’s so tempting to start eating the freshly made EasiYo yogurt right away! However, patience is a great thing, and your fresh yogurt will become a firmer set when chilled in the fridge for a couple of hours.

What if my yogurt doesn’t seem to set at all? If your yogurt is still completely runny (like milk) after a few hours in the fridge, please review the instructions on the sachet and check the best before date. Remember, it’s crucial to use the correct water temperature to make up the yogurt sachet, this water must be 15-20°C.

Are the plastic jars and containers safe? Yes—your wellbeing is essential to us. The entire EasiYo Yogurt Maker, as well as all jars and lunchtakers are manufactured from approved food grade polypropylene. That means all parts are completely free from polycarbonate and BPA.

I’d love an extra jar – where can I buy them? Having a spare jar or two on hand is always helpful, for making extra yogurt or having additional flavours on the go. You can buy jars directly from our website.

Can I clean the jars in the dishwasher? Yes, all our jars are safe to use in the dishwasher. They’re also fine in the freezer.

Can I wash my yogurt maker? Yes, but please use a damp cloth only! Dab a little dishwashing liquid on the cloth, and wipe your yogurt maker down to clean and odourise it. Don’t immerse your yogurt maker in water as that could damage it.

Can I use new jars in my old yogurt maker? Yes, our newer design jars can be used in our older style yogurt makers. If you need some extra jars, you can buy them online.

Can I use a glass jar in my EasiYo Maker? We don't recommend using a glass jar in the EasiYo Yogurt maker as there is risk of the glass cracking due to the boiling water. EasiYo Jars are made from Food Grade plastics, are BPA free and are suitable to withstand boiling water.

What is the temperature strip for? The temperature of your tap water can vary throughout the year with the season and this can have an effect on how your yogurt turns out. The temperature indicator sticker will show you when the water is the right temperature to help you make perfectly set yogurt. To use, simply peel off the back of the sticker to expose the sticky side. Stick this onto the outside of your EasiYo Yogurt Jar below half way. The sticker will turn green to show the current water temperature. Now, simply follow the instructions to make your EasiYo Yogurt, ensuring that the water you mix the yogurt sachet with is 15-20°C (12-16°C for Plant Based).
